For it’s first artist collaboration, Anim has partnered with Brooklyn-based contemporary artist Jose Parla for the exhibition “ISTHMUS” which means “a strip of land with the sea on either side, forming a link between two larger areas of land.” by Istanbul 74.

“ISTHMUS” consist of Parlá’s works on paper and paintings, ceramics produced in collaboration with the established ceramics company Gorbon and a unique textiles installation produced in collaboration with Anim.

Parlá describes his process as “imagining what calligraphy from my part of the world could look like and represent to future generations” and his concept of ISTHMUS signifies the calligraphic mode of image production as a means of cultural expression, which he used over Anim’s 100 year old vintage fabrics, as a part of the exhibition.
